cranial adjusting
Some of the conditions that can benefit from cranial adjusting are:
- headaches
- head injuries / concussion symptoms
- temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction
- sinus problems
- visual, hearing or speech difficulties
- learning disabilities / poor concentration or memory
Dr. Thomas has completed Level 1 and 2 Cranial Adjusting with Dr. Roger Turner (CATS – Cranial Adjusting Turner Style).
Cranial adjusting is a specific chiropractic technique directed at correcting misalignments of the bones of the skull and face.
Minor misalignments can cause tension on the muscles and surrounding tissues leading to discomfort.
Misalignments also cause the space between the skull and the brain to become compromised, which then compresses the blood supply and flow of cerebral spinal fluid to the brain. This pressure causes cognitive and functional disorders as well as headaches. The sinuses, eyes, ears, and throat can also be affected.
Common causes of cranial misalignments are:
- falls
- sports injuries
- car accidents
- blows to the head
- poor sleeping habits
Common causes in infants include:
- in-utero constraint (babies’ head is pressed against the pelvis)
- birth process (especially forceps or vacuum extraction)
- falling off a bed or changing table
