custom knee and hip bracing

Custom knee and hip braces provide tailored solutions for individuals dealing with a range of orthopedic concerns affecting the knee and hip joints.  These braces are custom-made to fit the unique anatomical contours of each patient to provide targeted support to alleviate pain, enhance mobility or stability and promote optimal function.

For those suffering from conditions such as osteoarthritis, ligament injuries, or post-surgical recovery, knee braces offer a customized approach to rehabilitation. By precisely aligning with the knee joint, these braces help redistribute weight and reduce strain, thereby minimizing discomfort and facilitating more efficient movement. Additionally, they can provide crucial protection and support during physical activity or sports, allowing individuals to remain active while safeguarding against further injury.

Similarly, custom hip braces are designed to address specific concerns related to hip instability, osteoarthritis, labral tears or post-surgical rehabilitation. By optimizing load distribution and minimizing excessive movement, hip bracing can help alleviate pain and improve functional outcomes for individuals navigating hip-related challenges.

At in balance, Dr. John Varga is pleased to offer custom OSSUR Hip and Knee Braces.  Dr. Varga is an OSSUR brace provider who is experienced at assessing your condition, discussing your best options and ensuring a properly fitting brace to improve your quality of life.  This process ensures patient comfort and compliance, leading you to resume your daily activities with confidence!

Braces may be used for:

1. Osteoarthritis of the Knee

OSSUR braces are designed to alleviate knee pain associated the osteoarthritis and may aid in improving mobility. Featuring Össur’s unique, patented 3-point Leverage System, these braces employ a single hinge alongside dual Dynamic Force System™ straps to effectively unload the knee joint. Clinical studies have demonstrated that this system may relieve osteoarthritis knee pain, enhance function, and improve quality of life when worn.

Indications:

  • moderate to severe unicompartmental knee osteoarthritis
  • degenerative meniscal tears
  • other knee conditions that may benefit from unicompartmental unloading

2. Stabilization of the Knee

Suitable for both everyday activities and sports, CTi3 offers exceptional quality with enhanced construction and anatomical fit for heightened comfort.

Indications:

Knee conditions requiring increased anterior-posterior (AP) and medial-lateral (ML) stability and protection, such as injuries to the ACL, MCL, LCL, PCL, rotary and combined instabilities.

3. Unloading the Hip

Designed to optimize load dispersion and enhance hip stability, the Unloader Hip brace is beneficial for individuals suffering from mild to moderate osteoarthritis of the hip, facilitating improved mobility and activities of daily living.

Indications

Conditions benefitting from hip repositioning and/or compression around the greater trochanters, including:

  • hip osteoarthritis (OA)
  • femoroacetabular impingement (FAI)
  • labrum tears

4. Rebound Hip, Post Surgical Support

The Rebound Hip brace offers gentle controlling forces and effective functional range of motion (ROM) restriction in extension/flexion and abduction/adduction post-surgery.  The low profile, lightweight design ensures patient comfort and compliance. The universal frame and soft goods are easy to stock, assemble, and quickly fit.

Indications:

Hip conditions that could benefit from motion restriction such as:

  • postoperative after (total) hip arthroplasty
  • postoperative after revision of (total) hip arthroplasty

  • post-op following FAI arthroscopic surgery
  • post-op following gluteus medius repair surgery
